Sleeping With Sirens ‘Feel’ (Rise Records)

Gee Sleeping With Sirens, what do you want to do tonight? The same thing we do every night- try to take over the world!”  Could have potentially been the conversation between singer Kellin Quinns and Memphis May Fire’s Matty Mullins during the introduction for the track Congratulations, where Matty stands in for guest vocals. But instead Kellin settles for a voice message informing his song buddy “Give me a call back, let’s change the world”. And world domination is exactly what they aim for with their third full-length release. Their aim is pretty darn impressive as they the hit bull’s eye with their recent UK tour which not only sold out but was upgraded to bigger and more respected venues. New single Alone, featuring MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) has also ranked up almost 30 thousand likes on Youtube.

The album opens its doors to a whole new dimension of SWS with title track Feel. And like a Lamborghini, the twelve track album is a show room of super slick and polished motors. With the roof down, Here We Go boasts the albums greater assets- mountain size vocals from Kellin, aggressive guitar intro that collects bonus points when it ascends into the mosh-pit central chorus. The one thing SWS do not slack in is variety. Adjacent to the bigger rock anthems are the delicate tones of maturity and a sense of Kellin talking to his former self in Free Now and Sorry. What many non-SWS fans will overlook is the frontman’s great ability to tell a story, with each track sounding completely different to the next and his versatility falsetto vocal range the Florida crew were made famous for from day one.

Completing the album is Satellites, that has the undertones of a soundtrack that could be used for a skydive with lyrics “A call for freedom/ Is that the reason that we are alive?” and a melody that screams out of this world. Falling back down to earth, the five-piece maintain their post-hardcore identity in Déjà Vu and The Best There Ever Was. Whilst standout track These Things I’ve Done verifies lift off, they’ve taken the world, they’re changing it and they’re making it theirs- next stop; the galaxy (or just Brixton Academy).
